In the winter of 2017, Art Club began assembling the bones of an altar.  In between the snowfalls and biting winds, we dragged in branches from our woods and constructed.  We uncovered moss & tree bark, wasp nests & snail shells and carried them daintily home to add to the structure.

On March 20th, 2017, the spring equinox, the Community Altar of Love & Loss found it’s home in DeWitt Park.

In a culture often inhibited with honest human emotion, Art Club dreamed of a space for the community to gather, express and discuss loss.  We invited the town to contribute, individually and collectively, tangibly and energetically.  Trinkets & relics, photos & poems, fabrics & jewels- all swelling with silent significance- were graciously given to adorn the altar.
